Our Mother, Melanie

signed byKatie Weber
Together we mourn the loss of our mother, Melanie Weamert Kiser. Melanie was lost to us on January 25, 2021, to COVID-19. It has been such a shock to us all because she was not just a loving daughter, sister, mother, proud grandmother, but such a loving friend as well. Many deemed her “mama bear” because she was always protective of her friends and family. She always had the nicest things to say about someone who deserved praise and when they didn’t deserve it she’d always find something disguised as nice to say! That was our mom. She didn’t have a petty bone in her body. She wasn’t the jealous type. She truly was a pure being. But she could also scare the living daylights out of someone with just a look if she had to. That cold, calculating stare, that some say I’ve inherited, so watch out any nodogooders! Our mother always felt like she wished she could’ve done more for us when we were growing up. But I believe every parent feels that way. Except mom never stopped feeling that way. She always wished she could do more for us and kept trying to protect us, right up until the very end. We all wanted to do the same for her. We wish we could’ve done more for her. We wish we could have protected her, but we couldn’t, not when it mattered most. However, in the end, we knew she loved us and we made damn sure she knew we loved her more than anything. She may be gone from this world, but she is forever in our hearts and apparently my stare that I inherited from her! I want to take the time to thank everyone. It has been so hard and such a shock because she was young, such a strong willed person and meant more to us than words can express. After losing her mother in July 2020, and a sister-in-law in December 2020, this was another upheaval to our family that just keeps testing our strength. But our family has been blessed by all the support and love that we’ve received these past few weeks since mom’s passing. It means everything to us and for that we are grateful and we thank you all. I knew Mel from she lived across the street from my daughter, Linda Young. She was such a friendly, super person! I looked for her every time I went into Home Depot (I now live in Heritage Harbour). I will miss her smiling face and lovely personality! I was shocked when Linda told me about her passing - so young! My heart goes out to all her family and friends - she will be missed!
